New high recognition for the Bulgarian rugby sport
Ivaylo Ivanov’s men put in a fine performance at the European Championships in Zagreb and Budapest against top-five World Rugby rivals England and Ireland. A balanced team with its own style and quality of play has been built.
The women led by Maya Ilieva, after their convincing performance and 2nd place in Conference 1, are the new member of Rugby Europe - Trophies. The team faces the difficult task of securing a place, ranking in the top 10 of the two tournaments in Zagreb and Budapest in June 2023. From the new season, the ladies will also start participating in Rugby 15 competitions.
Our juniors are also at Trophy level and are putting a lot of effort into their good performance. A success at this age was the inclusion of juniors in Rugby Europe’s cross-border activities in Rugby 15, being featured in the Top 3 of Rugby Europe’s best cross-border activities, along with Serbia and Croatia. At this age, a team of 4 trainers Tsvetostin Tsvetkov, Tihomir Simeonov, Venelin Ivanov and Nikolay Kyuchukov works. From March 2023, this team will also ensure participation in the qualifications for the Continental Championship in rugby 15 for youth under 20 years of age.
